Australian Building Codes Board to release National Construction Code in 2015

The NCC is a performance based code which contains all Performance Requirements for the construction of buildings. The Performance Requirements are the only legal requirements of the NCC and set the minimum level that buildings, building elements, and plumbing and drainage systems must meet.

The benefit of having a performance based NCC is that it provides practitioners with a choice of compliance pathways, through a Prescriptive Solution (Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions) or a Performance Solution (Alternative Solutions). A Prescriptive Solution uses the Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions from the NCC. A Performance Solution provides flexibility in determining the most suitable means for demonstrating compliance with the relevant Performance Requirements.

NCC 2015 (online) will be free and made available for registered parties to preview from Feb 2015.
